What to Bring
Help your player prepare for success with the right gear! Here's what to bring:
- Rugby Cleats or Soccer Cleats – molded cleats are preferred on the turf
- Comfortable Practice Gear – Warm, layered clothing is best for Pacific Northwest conditions. We'll practice in the rain and cold.
- Mouthguard – A well-fitted mouthguard is mandatory for contact practices.
- Water Bottle – Hydration is key for high-intensity sessions.
For New Rugby Players and Parents
If it’s your first rugby season, welcome to the Chuckanut family! Here are some tips to help you get started:
- Arrival Time: Aim to arrive 10 minutes before your practice slot for check-in and warm-ups.
- Introductions: Coaches and team managers will be on-site to introduce themselves and answer questions.
- Parent Support: Volunteers are always appreciated—ask how you can help!
- Learn the Game: Rugby may be new to you, but don’t worry! Our experienced coaches will guide players through the fundamentals. Parents can also follow along with Rugby 101 resources linked on our website.
What to Expect for Veteran Parents
We know returning parents are pros, but here are a few updates for this season:
- Field Space: With multiple teams sharing Orca Field, we’ll maximize the space efficiently. Coaches will discuss field layouts and your flexibility is always appreciated.
- Season Planning: Expect regular updates about potential field transitions and upcoming events through your SportsPlus account.
- Game Schedules: Coaches met with RugbyWA teams last weekend to work out game schedules and we will post those as soon as they are confirmed for each team.
